Keep my promises. Do what I said I would do.

Start with Jesus.

Did I promise to believe? To trust? To follow? To obey? To love as He loves?

Did I say I’d be a light in dark places? Share truth? Reach out to all of the world?

Do what I said I’d do … keep my promises.

Others.

Did I promise to love no matter what? To withstand sickness and sad times? To be there when there is nothing?

Did I vow to stay connected when there is excess? To not tune out when there are responsibilities and distractions … even happy ones.

Did I promise to cherish? To reject the lure of others? To delight in what is mine? To not complain? Or nag? Or tear down?

Did I promise to protect?

To put the needs of others – old or young –  in front of mine?

Note to Self Keep My Promises

Don’t be deterred.

So many voices calling … so much frustration in this world … so much pain.

How do I hope to make a smidgen of difference?  How could someone like me bring change?

Keep my promises.

Reject vows that aren’t mine to make.  Vows of revenge … of payback … of personal gain.

When I can’t do it on my own … when the voices urge …“Take a break … You deserve better … Love only yourself” … let me stay silent.

Just keep my promises.
