Golden girls …
Gold as in shimmering leaves … bright and well seasoned … brimming with wise tidbits of life’s hard-learned lessons.
All fruit has dropped; soon they will too.
But such a pair they have been … from bud to green … from spring rain to gentle sun to blazing heat.
From wind-rattled-days to moonless nights … they have hung side by side … waiting for the golden years … these golden girls.
The golden life is more brittle than anticipated … short … full of difficult days.
They bruise easily as they grasp tightly against the gales of fall … side by side … remembering.
Ahhh … the good ol’ days … the tear-my-hair-out, help-me-through-this days.
They laugh through the memories … share a smile … flick away a tear.
Winter breathes chilly on their backs … these golden girls.
