Golden girls …
Gold as in shimmering leaves … bright and well seasoned … brimming with wise tidbits of life’s hard-learned lessons.
All fruit has dropped; soon they will too.
But such a pair they have been … from bud to green … from spring rain to gentle sun to blazing heat.
From wind-rattled-days to moonless nights … they have hung side by side … waiting for the golden years … these golden girls.
The golden life is more brittle than anticipated … short … full of difficult days.
They bruise easily as they grasp tightly against the gales of fall … side by side … remembering.
Ahhh … the good ol’ days … the tear-my-hair-out, help-me-through-this days.
They laugh through the memories … share a smile … flick away a tear.
Winter breathes chilly on their backs … these golden girls.
The importance of Mom and Dear Friend’s friendship can be better understood by reading The Fine Art of Being Stupid, or any of my posts about Mom’s struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Everyone needs a friend.
