God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
A river brings joy to the city of our God,
the sacred home of the Most High.
God dwells in that city;
it cannot be destroyed.
From the very break of day,
God will protect it.
The nations are in chaos,
and their kingdoms crumble!
God’s voice thunders and the earth melts!
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress.
Come, see the glorious works of the Lord;
See how He brings destruction upon the world.
He causes wars to end throughout the earth.
He breaks the bow and snaps the spear;
He burns the shields with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress.

Psalm 46

Father in Heaven,

I do not always understand Your ways. I do not know what it means when Your Word says You will bring destruction on the World. I know You to be a Loving Father who desires for none to perish.

But I also know this … there is evil in this world that wishes to destroy what You love. You will not let that go unchecked. You fight our battles with us and even FOR us. Heaven’s resources are at work to fight that which we cannot see.

Help my heart to rest in the truth that You are at work, even in the midst of all of the turmoil and darkness that is raging in our world right now.

I pray specifically for Your people in the Ukraine who are facing devastation and war in their country; atrocities growing by the day. Give them strength and courage. Be their fortress.

You are the LORD of heaven’s armies. Please bring the victories that only You can bring.

In Jesus Name

I am devoting much of this year to joining with others in prayer, so am therefore filling my social media pages with requests like this. I invite you to join along with prayers and requests of your own. Join in silently or add to the comments.

It is an awesome thing to watch the Lord at work through the prayers of His children.

Blessed,

Shelly
